Community Service Programs

Arts Creative

Concerns itself with any and all aspects of needlework, fine arts, crafts and baking. Decorates for our functions and takes care of Achievement Day.

Arts Performing

Encourages participation in drama and musical events, literature, and creative writing. 

Communications

Committee provides all publicity concerning the club, submits articles, sometimes with photos, to the local papers on a regular basis.

Conservation

Concerned with environmental protection, community beautification, floral artistry, and gardening. Also helps with Achievement Day and orders wreaths and flowers for various occasions.

Education

Concerns itself with scholarships, safety, and babysitting clinic.

  • Annually, the club has given out several scholarship                 awards to CDW and high school seniors for more than 50         years, including Theater Arts Award.
  • We donate to the recipients of the Girls Scouts Gold Award and to the Eagle               Scouts who have achieved the highest honor in scouting.
  • Every other year we hold a babysitting clinic where we prepare boys and girls for         babysitting by inviting a nurse, a police officer, a fireman and EMT to our club to         explain what they will be facing.

Home Life/Social Service

Concerns itself with volunteer service, donations to charities, health, family living, and consumer awareness, holiday party at Dumont and Operation Candy/Cookie.

  • Collects hotel toiletries for Center for Hope and Safety. 

International Outreach

Concerns itself with international aid, cultural exchange, federation projects and other charities.

  • Heifer International, whereby shares are purchased in             animals to promote farming.
  • UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories                   to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help                                              them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through                                                  adolescence.              
  • On a yearly basis, we place a piggy bank on our food table during our Pot                   Luck Dinner and members are encouraged to consider making a donation.

Public Issues

Encourages patriotism and participation in civic affairs.

Special State Project 2020-2022 - Operation Chill Out "No Borders, No Boundaries"




OPERATION CHILL OUT is New Jersey’s oldest (and only) all-volunteer mobile outreach for homeless veterans, men and women, on mission since December 21, 2000. Its motto is “no borders-no boundaries.” Its mission is to respond to the crisis of homelessness with direct compassionate actions.
